(Question by our Reporter) The 2nd. Army, since their
return from victory, have repeat .dly expressed their
support of you, the Chairman, and the remours spread by
the Communists to stir up dissension between you and the
Army, have now been found groundless without any repudia-
tion. But the Army, which has returned from victory, has
made a declaration that they will reform Kwangtung for
revolutionery purposes, and I should be glad of any
information as to your opinion toward it, so that the
doubt entertained by the masses may be removed.
(Reply by Li) The revolutionary work of our Kuomin-
tang is aimed at development and not at degeneration;
reformation constitutes our principal duty. Our military
comrades in the 2nd. Army who have recently returned, will
persistently continue their revolutionary work with the
spirit which they had in the Northern Expedition last year,
eliminate all revolutionary influence, suppress all those
who are bad and corrupt and all opportunists who have
availed themselves of the Kuomintang to make their fortunes,
and will radically reform the Government into a legal and
systematic base and set an example to other provinces.
This is the object of reforming Kwangtung, and it admits
of no suspicions whatever.
(Question) Of late there have been current slogans
such as "Oppose the Central Special Council in Nanking"
and "Overthrow the Sai Shan Clique". Does this mean
opposition to the whole of the Government in Nanking or
only to the Special Council there? Or is it a question
concerning certain individuals alone?
(Answer) The amalgamation of Hankow and Nanking was with my approval. This has become a thing of the past,
